That's funny. Can't say I have a specific Old Faithful, but 10/9 and 10/10/82 are among the ones that seldom seem to leave my iPod. Same with several from fall '79. The one Official Release that seems to live there eternally is Live from Fillmore East. I cycle lots of stuff in and out, depending on what I feel like or think I'll feel like tomorrow, LOL, and it's not all GD (though my iPod is way more GDish than my hard drive.) But somehow those shows do seem to hang out there.

You have to yell at it. And it still doesn't always listen.

Ah, so that's it.
I just got a new laptop and I have to install itunes etc. ... this is how much of a techno-idiot I am, I didn't realize (hubby rolled his eyes at me) that when I synch the ipod to itunes on the new computer, it'll put all the songs in itunes ... I thought I had to re-upload everything!

Well, I was just relieved to learn the Surprising New Information that if you got something from iTunes (not that I CAN here, but from earlier), and then your laptop dies, you still ... have it! It's living in the ether somewhere! Like little disembodied musical notes!

See, I was kind of worried. So you're not the only member of the Forum Remedial Techno-Dweeb Class. (Although it may be a class of two. Or at least we're the only ones who'll admit it. Kinda like asking for directions :-) )

Yeah, hubby was ridiculing me ... "do you know what the word 'synch' means?" It hadn't occurred to me it worked both ways. A pretty trippy concept, really ...

But I think you need things saved to an external HD. Except, I guess, for iTunes purchases. Otherwise, unless everything you have fits on your iPod (which mine definitely doesn't), then the synch wouldn't work that way, would it?

Uh oh. The blind leading the blind.

Ok. Take two. Does all of your music fit on your iPod? If not, and your hubby says it's still work by synching cuz it's all in the ether somewhere (including stuff that wasn't purchased from iTunes), that'd be cool! I thought you needed the HD backup to keep music files. And then, if it's a Mac, you plug it in and, bingo, it's all there. And if it's a PC, you look at it like it's the monolith from 2001 and scratch your head and ask someone who knows what they're doing how to re-install.

I know, I know. I bet there are forumites snorting coffee all over their keyboards right now at this dorky clueless conversation. And your hubby, too.

LOL, I'm sure you're right (about the coffee snorting).
Yes, all my music fits on my ipod.
I am confused, and need to go listen to the music play (story of my life at the moment ...)
Thanks for trying ... I seriously have very few brain cells to rub together right now.
